This masterclass offers participants an opportunity to learn step-by-step how to write publishable manuscripts about their own quality improvement (QI) projects in healthcare. Learners should be prepared to work on their own manuscript during the course, one section at a time.

  • Explain the QI project journey in a healthcare setting.
  • Discuss differences and similarities between QI projects and traditional research studies.  
  • Explain the process and practical steps for creating a QI project in a healthcare setting.
  • Understand the structure and elements of the Standards for QI Reporting Excellence (SQUIRE) guidelines.
  • Know how to write the first draft of their QI project manuscript and make it ready for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.
  • Explain what reviewers and editors are looking for in a QI project.
